Hi, my name is Liz McGraw. Welcome to my Family History Blog.
The 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic has changed all our lives, possibly forever, but it has given me time to take stock and realise the importance of my family.
By creating this blog I hope to share the things I have learned and continue to learn about my ancestors and to create a record for the future.
I hope you will follow me as I share my past, present, and future family history discoveries with you.
How It Began
I began my family history research following the death of my father, Jimmy Thomson, who passed away in 1995. He never spoke about his family history and I never thought to ask. I suddenly realised I’d never get the chance again. There was so much I wanted to know. My grandparents were dead and dad’s funeral was the first time in my memory that I met any of my uncles. My mum filled in bits but she couldn’t even tell me what age her own mother was when she died so I knew I didn’t have a reliable historian there! So my journey began. I have now been researching on and off for the last twenty five years and I hope you will follow me as I share my past, present, and future family history discoveries with you.
